DIABETES: OVER 422MILLION PEOPLE GLOBALLY ARE NOW AFFECTED BY DIABETES-WHO

The World Health Organisation, WHO says that diabetes now affects nearly one-in-eleven in the world.
WHO in a major report warns that the world is facing 'unrelenting march' of diabetes as the cases have virtually quadrupled from 108 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014.

WHO warns that unless drastic action is taken, high blood sugar levels are a major killer-linked to 3.7 million deaths yearly around the world.

Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are lumped together in the report but the surge in cases is as a result of type 2 diabetes which is closely linked to unhealthy lifestyle.

As the waistlines balloon, one-in-three people are now overweight so too has the number of diabetes cases.
