NICO ROSBERG BECOMES THE 33RD DRIVER TO WIN FORMULA 1 WORLD TITLE

Mercedes Benz driver, Nico Rosberg edged out his team mate , Lewis Hamilton by 5 points to become 2016 Formula 1 World Champion.
At the finale on Sunday, 27th November at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton won the race but Nico Rosberg needed to only make the podium to win the Championship title.

Lewis Hamilton who was on pole at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix had a great start and led throughout the race however at the tail end of the laps realising that Nico was coming second he tactically decided to back Nico and slow down the race refusing to heed to team order to increase his pace. Lewis was hoping  that Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari and Max Verstappen of Red Bull  could catch up with Nico in order to get an opportunity at the championship after having technical difficulties most of the season.

Nico was able to maintain his 2nd position till the end and at the end of the race which was intense, he did the donut spin to celebrate his victory.

This would be Nico's first time of beating Lewis in any title throughout his racing career.

After the race,  Lewis Hamilton was criticised by Mercedes bosses Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda for disobeying the teams instructions and insinuating that Lewis Hamilton had set a precedence of anarchy in the team;  statements we feel are unfortunate which bosses should not utter.

Several media houses are insinuating that Toto Wolff might suspend or sack Lewis Hamilton following his disobedience even though his contract expires in 2018.

Lewis has won 32 of the races for Mercedes. We are watching the Mercedes bosses' action for Lewis dictating the pace which is within the rules of the game.

Nico Rosberg a level headed driver who does not wear his feelings on his sleeves like Lewis Hamilton was able to achieve the feat of winning the Formula 1 world championship like his father, Keke who won in 1982.

Having won the championship, Nico who speaks several languages and has roots in Germany and Finland will be sponsors delight.

Congrats to Nico!
