LEWIS HAMILTON TAKES 2017 CANADIAN GP POLE EQUALLING AYRTON SENNA'S RECORD

Three times Formula 1 world champion, Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton today, Saturday 10th June made history as he clinched the Canadian Grand Prix pole, his 65th equalling that of his hero, Ayrton Senna.
Lewis was 0.330 seconds quicker than this season's leader, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel to take the pole.

Lewis Hamilton's teammate, Valterri Bottas came third behind Sebastian Vettel.

Lewis Hamilton needs just three more poles to match Michael Schumacher, who holds title of having won all time poles.

After the race, Ayrton Senna's family gave Lewis an old helmet won by Ayrton.

An elated Lewis took to Instagram to write,

"In absolute total disbelief of what's happened today. God is truly the greatest. My wildest dreams have come true and Iam so GRATEFUL! Thank you to Senna family for this unbelievable gift. My heroes helmet. Wow! I will cherish this forever. Thank you to my team @mercedesamgf1 for helping me get here! All your hardwork is so appreciated!!! Ok, time to focus and get the job done tomorrow #TeamLH"
