AMANDA KNOX FINALLY EXONERATED BY ITALY'S SUPREME COURT IN THE MURDER OF UK STUDENT, MISS KERCHER

Italy's Supreme court has overturned the convictions of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito for the murder of UK student, Meredith Kercher.

This ruling is the final ruling in the case which has spanned seven years.

UK student, Miss Kercher,21, was found dead in 2007 in a Perugia flat in Italy she shared with Amanda Knox with her throat slashed.
Amanda Knox and her then Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito were found guilty of the murder in 2009. An Ivory Coast man, Rudy Guede was convicted in a separate proceeding of the slaying of Miss Kercher and is currently serving a 16 year sentence. Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito spent four years in prison before an appeals court overturned their conviction in 2011 and Amanda Knox was allowed to go back to the United States.
Amanda Knox and Raffaele maintain their innocence.

However, a High Court ruling on March 26th 2013 overturned the appeals court acquittals and the case then went to Italy's highest court.

On Friday, 27th March, 2015 after nine hours of discussion, five appeal court judges in Rome's Supreme Court delivered a definite acquittal of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito in the murder of UK student, Miss Kercher.
No reason was given for the decision.

Lawyer to Amanda Knox, Carlo Della Vedova broke the news to Amanda on the phone to which she replied that she now wants to "recover from this nightmare".
Amanda Knox can now leave United States and travel wherever she wants.

The family of murdered UK student, Miss Kercher said they are disappointed with Italy's Supreme Court decision
