EBOLA: NEW LIBERIAN EBOLA CASE MAY HAVE BEEN INFECTED BY EBOLA SURVIVOR

A health Official said on Tuesday that a woman who tested positive to Ebola in Liberia last week was dating a survivor of the disease which gives possible explanation of how she became Liberia's first confirmed case in weeks.

Ebola is transmitted through contact with vomit, blood, faeces, fluids of people with the virus.

Survivors are not considered contagious but the virus lingers in semen and medics usually urge survivors not to have sex for at least three months after recovering.
While sexual transmission of Ebola has not been documented, it may be possible.

Dr. Francis Kateh, Acting Head of Liberia's Ebola Case Management Team says samples have been taken from the boyfriend.

The patient is now being treated at a US public health service.
