President Obama and Prince Charles talked amicably in front of reporters and television cameras .
At one point President Obama said, "I think it's fair to say that the American people are quite fond of the royal family" to which Prince Charles replied, "That's awfully nice to know"
Duchess Camilla was all smiles as President Obama and Prince Charles engaged in the conversations.
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are on a four day goodwill visit to the United States and so far they have visited, Armed Forces Retirement Home, a veteran facility that is also the site of Abraham Lincoln's summer cottage; and US memorials including monuments to Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King .
