EBOLA: NEW CLAMPDOWN AS LAST BATCH OF CUBAN MEDICS LEAVE SIERRA LEONE


The last batch of Cuban medics, 66 in number who came to Sierra Leone in October 2014 to help fight Ebola on World Health Organisation(WHO)'s invitation left the country on Wednesday as the number of infections is falling.

The  Head of Cuban Delegation, Doctor Jorge Delgado Butillo told AFP by phone his staff has " helped to save the life of a great number of people infected with Ebola". "we are delighted Sierra Leone is showing signs of victory".

256 Cuban medics had been mobilized to help fight Ebola in 3 of the worst hit countries of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.

President  Ernest Bai Koroma announced new restrictions for Easter weekend in a bid to prevent the resurgence of the deadly virus. This includes a ban on meetings and commercial activities from 6.00pm on Saturday, April 4th  and throughout Easter Sunday, April 5th.
