EBOLA: OBAMA PLEDGES CONTINUED HELP IN AFRICA'S EBOLA FIGHT AS DECLINING TREND PERSISTS IN THE REGION


President Obama has on Wednesday told leaders of the three West African nations fighting Ebola  that the United States will continue to help them until the  Ebola virus is fully eradicated .
Obama said to Presidents of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. 'We are proud to partner with you and we intend to see this through until the job is done'
Obama met at the White House with Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma and Guinean President, Alpha Conde. Obama said he called the meeting to'assess progress today and to look ahead'. Liberia has had no new cases and there are fewer than 40 cases in the region.
 'While there has been major progress now we're focused on a shared goal and that is getting to zero. We can't be complacent. This virus is unpredictable' Obama said. Ebola has also damaged West African countries economies and Obama spoke to them about plans to revive growth.There has been a declining trend in the outbreak for the week ending April 12th. 37 cases were identified, a decrease by 7 compared to the week before.
Liberia continues to have no new cases. Sierra Leone, a total of 9 cases were recorded for the week ending April 12th, same as the week before, the nations lowest weekly count since May 2014.However for Guinea there was a rise in activity for the week ending April 12th compared to the week before. 28 new cases were recorded.
