ITALIAN COAST GUARDS RESCUE THOUSANDS OF MIGRANTS AT SEA, RECOVER 10 BODIES


Over 5,800 migrants have been rescued off the Libyan coast over the weekend and 10 bodies recovered, the Italian Coast Guard says.
Survivors were picked from both wooden and rubber boats in 17 separate operations by both the Italian and French ships.
The migrants are being taken to Italy.
At least 1,750 people have died this year, trying to cross the Mediterranean.
