EBOLA UPDATE IN SIERRA LEONE AND GUINEA FOR THE WEEK ENDED JUNE 14

World Health Organisation (WHO) has reported that for the week ended June 14, there are 24 Ebola cases in Sierra Leone and Guinea with Sierra Leone having 14 cases against Guinea's 10 while Liberia remains Ebola free.
In Sierra Leone, the 14 cases were reported in two districts, Kambia which borders Guinea and Port Loko which adjoins Kambia.
The previous week reported 15 cases in both districts so there is a decline of one in latest report.
13 of the 14 cases involved contacts of previous cases. An investigation of the remaining case revealed that the patient became infected while sharing a ward with an Ebola patient in a private health facility.
Guinea's 10 cases came from 4 areas, Conakry (i case), Boke (2 cases), Dubreka (4 cases) and Forecariah (3 cases).
5 of the 10 patients were registered contacts of Ebola patients. 4 of the other 5 cases came from unknown sources.
As at June 14, authorities were monitoring 1,927 contacts of Ebola patients from Guinea.
