A lenticular cloud photographed by Weather.com blogger, Rogerio Pacheco at 8pm, 24th January which looks like 'Hand of God' that appeared over Madeira, the birth place of Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo has gone viral.
Residents feel it is the hand of God reaching out to them. However, a meteorologist at Weather.com explained the phenomenon as,
"The cloud formation takes a breathtaking appearance due to a pheomenon called light scattering" "At sunrise and sunset, light from the sun has to pass through a greater distance across earth's atmosphere where the light is scattered. The result is that vibrant colours, such as reds and oranges, are more dominant".
He added that the unsual cloud shape is derived from turbulent circular movement of wind in the low-to mid-levels of the atmosphere.
Despite his explanation, many Facebook members alluded to it as the'Hand of God'.
