MEDICAL DOCTORS IN OGUN STATE BEGIN STRIKE TODAY

Medical doctors under the auspices of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners, Ogun State Chapter have begun a one week warning strike starting from today, Monday, 7th March.
The association revealed in a communique after an emergency meeting that the strike is aimed at getting the attention of Ogun State government on urgent issues that are affecting the health sector in the state.

The association claims that despite numerous letters written to Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun on the state of the health sector and urgent remedies required especially in terms of shortage of facilities and staff, the government has kept a deaf ear to their demands thereby making working conditions very difficult.

The association claims that there has been no new recruitment in the past two to three years in the sector despite increasing demands on the sector.

The association warns that more stringent measures will be taken to press for their demands if the warning strike does not draw the attention of the state government.
