UNITED STATES CONGRESS VOTES FOR EXTENSION OF SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN

The United States Congress on Thursday unanimously voted by  99-0 to extend sanctions against Iran against Obama's wish.

The congress including Democrats unequivocally made it known that they were not willing to continue giving concessions to Iran as previously done by Obama Administration.

The Iran Sanctions Act which was enacted in 1996 was due to expire end of this month but congress had extended it for another 10 years.

The White House does not see the utility of the extension as they feel it might alienate Tehran.

However, Obama is expected to sign the law once it gets to his desk.
